Bristol Local School District

Welcome to Bristol Local Schools

Overview

The Bristol Local School District serves the students of Bristol Township and West Farmingon, Ohio. Approximately 560 students attend the district. The Bristol Local School System exists to meet the needs of the pupils and the needs of society. Hence the needs of pupils and the needs of society become the center about which the school functions.

Pupils have common as well as individual needs. The district is responsible for ascertaining and meeting these needs. The personality of the pupil is to be respected, but such respect must be conditioned by the ideals of this democratic society of which he/she is a part. Learning is an active and passive process. The student learns most readily through participation. Individuals differ in interests, abilities, aptitudes, and learning styles, and insofar as possible, the district makes provisions for these differences.

The curriculum included all the experiences, which the district provides for the growth of the student. The content of the curriculum is developed by studying the needs of the individual and society. The curriculum shall be dynamic and flexible and continually strives for improvement.

Current Initiatives

We are constantly striving to improve our district and ensure that we are providing our students with experiences that will prepare them to be successful and productive citizens throughout their lives.

The State of Ohio has instituted computer-based testing for grades 3-12 as it is essential that students develop technology skills to prepare to be successful on these assessments. The 2016-17 school year was the first year that Bristol Local Schools implented computer based testing in all grade levels. The district has utilized federal grant funding to invest in technology in recent years, with a goal of achieving a 1:1 student to device ratio. Technology training was provided throughout the 2017-18 school year and we will continue to provide professional development in this area moving forward.

The district has undertaken efforts to improve our curriculm and academic supports. The elementary school implemented a new reading series, McGraw-Hill Wonders, in 2017-18. All teachers have been trained in Response to Intervention (RtI) and we have completed the second year of a multi-year plan to utilize RtI district-wide. High school students now have access to learning labs in math and English/Language Arts.
